There’s some neat videos on YouTube by AsianBoss (iirc) where they asked people on the streets of Tokyo what the thought of the swastika since it’s so prevalent on religious sites..

Basically none of them associated it to nazi Germany and even when it was hinted they still didn’t see it. Really interesting watch that shows the difference of cultures. I’ve also heard Japan doesn’t like talking/teaching about WW2 in depth as they are ashamed of it so that might be a contributing factor.

Road I live on has been using this shit for the past couple years to fix the countless potholes and cracks that plague our road. They finally figured out it did nothing and are now repaving the whole thing.

Yeah. Religion is dumb as fuck anyway and if people can’t handle someone making a joke about them not following their own belief system, that’s their problem.

COMMENT 6d ago

It’s hardly an attack lmao. No different than when ppl make fun of Christians, Muslims, etc.

Humanities greatest and worst achievement. You have all of the worlds knowledge at your fingertips... but if nobody showed you how to use it, it will do more harm than good.

It’s really convenient when Republicans bitch about stuff Obama did because trump did it worse.

Golfing? Trump was on track to outdo every president since FDR if he got re-elected.

Bombs? Trump ramped up Obama admin bombing.

Virus? I’ve seen ppl compare Ebola to Covid and we can clearly see which of those turned out okay.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Reddit it’s that the guy complaining about nobody interested despite paying decent is leaving out information.

COMMENT 9d ago

Yeah my bad, I only read to your reply and didn’t look back at the original comment. I still think my point stands though. Like I said I live in a “city” but also I’m 5 minutes away from endless farmland.

1

COMMENT 9d ago

Just because we’re considered a “city” doesn’t mean it is one. I live in rural SC, unless you consider 30k ppl to be a big city. Does it make you feel better than our county sheriffs department gets even more funding and does just as poorly?

Also nowhere in your comment did you differentiate between rural and urban. You simply said “more funding”.

COMMENT 9d ago

Personally I don’t think increasing funding will help at all because the police in America have been demonstrably irresponsible with funding and do not use it how it is intended. They already get more money than any other department (in my city at least, by a large margin too) and still do a piss poor job.

Rather than hiring new cadets and training, they bought an entire new fleet of cruisers and completely updated their armory. None of it is necessary in the slightest in my area.

If we’re being real police do a very poor job of preventing crime. Whenever I’ve needed them it took 10 minutes or more to show up and by then the conflict had already concluded.

For context, my house is less than 5 minutes from the police station. Literally on the same road just a few miles away.

Americans have a very bad habit of just outright denying the countries history.

COMMENT 10d ago

You keep saying “he got a lot wrong” but aren’t providing examples. What exactly did he get wrong? I recall him saying no masks at the start, specifically because it led to a shortage of masks in hospitals so not too unreasonable. If you have even a shred of understanding on how viruses spread you shouldn’t be confused by masks at all. He also didn’t want to push the lab theory because at the start of the pandemic it didn’t really matter where it came from, they were busy figuring out how to stop it. It’s not a good look to immediately accuse other world powers (and our main global competition) of releasing a bio weapon without any evidence.

I skimmed through a couple hundred before giving up. They were all extremely boring and normal emails in my opinion..

COMMENT 11d ago

NPR has them. Be warned, there’s several thousand emails and many are heavily redacted.

COMMENT 12d ago

If you put police officers 100 ft up in a tree with a chainsaw without training it would become an even more deadly job than it already is by a LOT. This is a completely moot point.

Tbh its kind of absurd to compare Valo to this game mechanically or otherwise. RC is easier in every aspect.

Rightfully so as it has been historically used with a negative connotation. Also referring to black people as “the blacks”... yikes.

COMMENT 14d ago

So basically your defense is that the man can’t construct a coherent paragraph? I’ve read it and reread it countless times, no matter how much credit I try to give the guy it sounds like he’s referring to injecting disinfectants.

The choices are literally either he’s an idiot and doesn’t understand the experimental technology and just brutalized a shoddy explanation in front of the entire country, Or he’s an even bigger idiot who thinks injecting disinfectants is okay?

If only we knew, unfortunately everything the guy says needs to be translated by his biggest supporters to prove how genius he is.

EDIT: I decided to go back and look at the full context of the press conference and there is zero doubt in my mind he was asking about injecting disinfectants, not light. It’s makes zero sense in any context for him to be talking about injecting light regardless of some obscure experimental tech. There is nothing partisan about reading comprehension, or should I say, there shouldn’t be.

7

COMMENT 14d ago

Idk. The statements in question were immediately preceded by discussion of bleach. If he wanted he somehow claim he was talking about experimental UV light, he probably should have gone about it in any other way. I don’t know how it could be interpreted as anything else.

COMMENT 16d ago

For real. This whole situation is a parallel to someone that refuses to wear a seatbelt and dies in a car crash. Like, there is a problem. There are ways to avoid this problem. Guy chose to ignore them all, problem killed him. Hard to feel any pity at all.
