690

u/SigmundCocker 14d ago

Maybe we already did when he mocked that disabled reporter...

854

u/Locke66 14d ago

I still can't believe he did that... and then got elected President. So much for decency.

966

u/Cyrano_Nose 14d ago

He mocked a Gold Star family for being just mildly critical of him.

He made fun of a POW for having been captured.

Republicans (who voted for him) have no decency.

545

u/DropsTheMic 14d ago

Let's not forget how he mocks soldiers having never been to war himself, good ol' captain bone spurs, and said all the dead service men and women are failures. And yet... a substantial portion of the military voted for him to be Commander in Chief. I am still baffled by this.

283

u/segaboy 14d ago

In r/conservative, its strange; any posts in regard to Trump on the matter of his possible arrest are all marked as "flaired users only", so nobody can see the comments but flaired users - it just forwards to a post about Nancy Pelosi.

Thats a strange way to wall off the comments. Not at all fascist to try to control who sees comments. I wanna see the doubt, anger, fear and conspiracies.

"When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just seen them thrown in, rough. I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice,’" he said.

"When you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head you know, the way you put their hand over [their head]," Trump continued, mimicking the motion. "Like, 'Don’t hit their head and they’ve just killed somebody, don’t hit their head.' I said, 'You can take the hand away, OK?'

I on the other hand would like to see them try. Every actual radical action they take alienates more people and weakens the Republican Party. It’s sad the Republican Party didn’t cease to exist after Jan 6 like it would in any other civilized society, but I think that day really did permanently wound the GOP, even if it was just a scratch.

A real man would say he can beat an indictment because he’s innocent and would call for calm. A real man would care more about the safety of his fellow Americans and not project the law coming for him onto his supporters. A real man cares more for others than himself.

He is not a real man. He’s a thin-skinned coward and a crook. And the law applies to every American, rich or poor. Famous or not.

92

u/PerniciousPeyton Colorado 14d ago

Exactly. Despite how much they still love him, a lot of the alt-right fascists seem to think Trump’s call to protest is a law enforcement “trap.” Is it too much to hope they’ve actually learned something from J6?

58

u/Silver_Knight0521 Ohio 14d ago

I think they still want to do something, but not the same thing. They're going to have to be smarter, more careful. I think they assumed their Jan. 6 effort would succeed and therefore they didn't have to worry about consequences.

To be serious, no he didn't. The reason Jan 6 was special - an insurrection rather than just a riot - is because it was specifically positioned at the one moment where a riot actually could conceivably interfere with the transfer of presidential power.

That being said, I really hope statements like this are used against him when determining whether he gets bail. Seems to me like someone who tries to start riots when he thinks he's going to get arrested is a danger to the community and shouldn't be allowed out on his own recognizance.

207

u/GordianNaught 14d ago

New York will grant him bail. If the Feds grab him, it will be a whole different discussion. If he is fomenting unrest, then the government will have a good case to keep him detained.

318

u/Bobmanbob1 14d ago

I'd love the judge to ball up and just say I deem you a flight risk to a foreign country, bail denied, I'm placing you into protective custody at Rikers. Bailiff, take the defendant away.

Dudes an idiot.

Without a time and place and before Tuesday.

This ain't Jan 6 in the slightest. It needs a purpose for gathering and reason to gather in that area.

198

u/ChromaticDragon 14d ago

There also needs to be a sense of how this would benefit those participating.

The plans for Jan 6 had a focused purpose that clearly benefitted the entire group, not just Trump himself.

This? Not so much.

u/mtarascio 14d ago edited 14d ago

If he organized a protest where it would be to make arresting him difficult or an 'event'. That would be the way to go about it.

Might be very illegal but that has never stopped him before. So I think he's just an idiot.

Edit: A word

35

u/ShotTreacle8209 14d ago

So hopefully whatever protest happens in Florida. Don’t want any of that near me.

I’m guessing his lawyers were asked if he would be willing to come in on Tuesday for arraignment, and he started tweeting without thinking like usual

How many times does MAGA need to “take the nation back?”

As many times as it takes to get rid of all their undesirables.

Wow, Trump just never learns, does he? Encouraging more chaos and violence is definitely not the way to 'take our nation back.' It's time for him to finally take responsibility for his actions and move on.

253

u/Jonny2284 14d ago

Problem is why would he learn when he's not facing consequences? I hope this times different but the lack of direct consequence up to now means he won't give a crap if some rednecks saw a jail cell for last time they answered his call.

He learned just fine in this scenario. He learned that he can pretty much get away with whatever he wants because our government doesn’t want to set a precedent that might one day be used to hold them accountable… or something like that.

Nothing says "I'm really, really guilty" like issuing a pre-emptive appeal to mass-protest against the systems and rule of law of our country, complete with 'innocent until proven guilty' protections. All from a guy who has successfully wielded the legal system as an effective tool at his disposal for decades.

Both are trash and neither should have anything to do with governing.

I don’t get why the Government isn’t worrying a bit about this shit? He’s threatening the US government? MLK was beaten, arrested and put in jail for protesting for Freedom and Equality. And yet here this f…..g Lunatic already caused the January 6 attack, and lied so much about COVID causing the death of 500,000 people. And now he’s doing it again? WTF! Arrest his ass , and put him in jail already!

16

u/Asphodelmercenary I voted 14d ago

There’s always been a tendency by The Establishment to turn a blind eye to the fascist element. The Business Plot to violently oust FDR was busted open by General Smedley Butler in Congressional hearings and the best Congress could do was Tree Fiddy.

The Establishment doesn’t punish the Fascists probably because the Big Money that shovels cash into politicians hands trends Fascist. Maybe “Fash-lite” or “Near Fash” when they fund “moderates” and Hard Fash when it’s Koch and Thiel. But they don’t shit where they eat so Trump types get the soft touch.

We will see if that changes. They did go hard after McVeigh but not all of his organization. But they had no choice. He blew up a federal building and killed a lot of people.

I hope they don’t wait for that shit to happen again. Because it’s cooking and we all know it. Just hasn’t spilled over yet. But the rhetoric is hot and credible. FBI just needs to do something about it. These domestic terrorists can be caught before the bomb goes off. They can do it with other groups. They can do it with Domestic Fascists.

Of course, just like Jan 6th, he wants everyone else to take the lead while he watches it on television at home.

"You guys go ahead. I'll be right behind you all the way." Then when they all find themselves in jail, he'll disown the whole thing again.

36

u/TB12GOATx5 13d ago

They approached me with tears in their eyes and they said "Sir, you--"... yes, they called me "Sir", they said "Sir, you're under arrest." They started to read my marinara rights, and I stopped them. My uncle is a law professor. Smart man, one of the smartest. So I stop them and tell them I know my rights, and they're shocked. They've never seen anyone who knows as much about being arrested like I do. Many people -- great people -- are saying it was the most beautiful arrest they've ever seen, possibly the greatest of all time.

This orange buffoon is exactly why I have lost faith in people. I was a die hard R and now I can’t even look at the Republican Party without wanting to vomit. These people have literally sold their soul to the devil.

27

u/mdruckus 14d ago

I’m with you. I was an iron clad lifelong conservative. I was as conservative as they come. I ate it all up. Eventually, Trump went to far and I ended up deconstructing religion and the republican party. They are one in the same. Once I deconstructed I saw I truly could use my own voice and not just spew the idiotic things the right was saying. I ended up doing a 180 and I am now really progressive and think all religions are a sham. In a way, Trump was the best thing to ever happen to me.

If I were the presiding judge I would have to take this inflammatory rhetoric into account as to whether the defendant is held or released on bail, pending further proccedings of the court.

I feel fairly confident that the court has already instructed the defendants counsel to instruct their client on how the procedure will play out.

And that this little tirade on social media violates any goodwill agreements made between the prosecution, the defense and the courts in the how and when the defendant surrenders, per the grand juries indictment.

He should be taken into custody by the U.S. Marshalls Service and be remanded back to the SDNY.

That's how it would work for any other "white collar criminal".

And it's how it should work for him.

It won't mind you.

But it should.

18

u/Ed_Derick_ 14d ago

Now watch the maga people do a massive riot, kill a bunch of people and destroy property, then the next day they are crying

“THOSE LIBERALS SET US UP”

“IT WAS ALL DEMOCRATS IN DISGUISE!!!”

“WE WOULD NEVER DO THIS WE ARE PEOPLE OF GOD!!”

19

u/shinianx 13d ago

The far right are demanding DeSantis step in with the Florida National Guard to resist extradition and protect Mar-a-Lago. Besides how utterly bonkers that is, it does show the predicament Ron now finds himself in. If he does nothing, he almost certainly loses even more clout among the MAGA constituency. If he does, he is going to bat for his biggest hurdle to the GOP nomination. Honestly there isn't enough popcorn in the world for this.
