Oh man. Flashbacks of the Chara hit on Pacioretty. It’s a clean hit just very unlucky. Hope he’s okay

We JUST saw something like that on Tuesday when Michael Rasmussen took a hit like that from a Predators player. Scary stuff. Thankfully the glass is rounded now.

Reminds me of the Chara hit on Pacioretty that almost ended his existence.. really hope Fischer is ok no one wants to see that

yeah, thankfully they have the rounded glass there.

it's not perfect by any means, but it likely prevented more damage being done.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the hit, it just one of those weird spots on the ice.

Rounded glass was put in because of the pacioretty play

I was just about to ask that

Yea I’m on the fence. Don’t think it was intentional into the glass like that but it’s just such a bad hit

Why is it a bad hit. Tough spot on the ice. Square shoulder to shoulder protecting the redline. Very unfortunate result.

Most hockey fans of this day have seen the Chara Hit on Pacioretty. To me most should know that making a hit there is just asking for trouble as there isnt much good that can come from that hit, especially when he just dumped it in, but a whole lot of bad can come from it

You cannot allow players to easily gain the red line. That's how you never make the nhl in the first place. He knew he was getting walloped

It just looks really bad. Hitting a player into the boards like that is never a “good” hit

..what?

It’s a Vegas fan. They’re still learning the game.

Yup... thank god patches ended up okay and now we’ve got rounded glass

2

u/We-r-not-real Apr 10 '21

Chara's intentional hit on patches has got to be one of the dirtiest hits in nhl history. Right up there with Kozlov's face smash on Foote.

I completely agree. So fucked up

Nothing will ever top the Hunter hit for pure filth imo

1

u/We-r-not-real Apr 10 '21

Hunter on Turgeon was simply criminal.

Cant believe folks wanted Chara arrested LOLOL

I mean, that's exactly why they rounded those sections of glass.

Am I right in thinking these announcers are the Coyotes' announcers? They sound so incredibly bored and nonchalant about it. It sounds like two Microsoft Sams calling a game.

1

u/thewrittengeek SJS - NHL Apr 10 '21

I find most announcers sound that way. We’re just used to guys who are extra colorful.

Looks like a good hit to me.

Unfortunate for him, but nothing to see here.

Vegas gooning, who's surprised?

Man I don't like this hit at all. Carrier knows full well that the stanchion is coming up.

Home ice so I get the sentiment, but the game moves fast and most of the time things like this are accidental. And it’s ultimately a gentleman’s game - benefit of the doubt and assume the best in people.

1

u/thewrittengeek SJS - NHL Apr 10 '21

It’s Vegas. They’ve used up all their benefit of the doubt.

u/dr_nerdface WSH - NHL Apr 10 '21

if this was a Tom Wilson hit, ppl would be out for blood.

-28

u/pansy_dragoon COL - NHL Apr 10 '21

Imagine being up 5-0 in the 2nd and drilling a guy into the stanchion

26

u/TheToeTag DAL - NHL Apr 10 '21

Hittings not allowed when you're losing? Never heard of that rule before.

-4

u/pansy_dragoon COL - NHL Apr 10 '21

Uhhh vegas is blowing out pheonix here. If it was backwards and vegas was getting dunked on its still a shitty move to run someone into the stanchion. If its a close playoff game its still a shitty move to run someone into a stanchion. When its a game you have in hand and you run a guy into a stanchion its an extra shitty move.
