Are they really trying to change the narrative that it was the left that was anti-vaccine? Who the hell do they think they’re kidding?

221

u/T1mac 7d ago

Gaslighting 101. Trump and Miller have no shame and they lie out their asses and the MAGAs will eat it up.

Loll “Trump-produced” vaccine. Did he mean injecting bleach?

We all know Trump couldn't produce a glass of water if you walked him into a kitchen & showed him the sink & glasses cabinet: too much like work.

The attempt to rewrite history is very infuriating.

Just in case you want to know if you can trust what Trump says about Biden, how about this agedlikemilk comment from Nov. 2, 2020.

“Joe Biden is promising to delay the vaccine and turn America into a prison state—locking you in your home while letting far-left rioters roam free. The Biden Lockdown will mean no school, no graduations, no weddings, no Thanksgiving, no Christmas, no Fourth of July”

Biden escalated vaccinations. He pushed vaccinations to end lockdown. There was school. There were graduations. There are weddings. 4th of July was the most open Holiday we've had since last March. Thanksgiving and Christmas are dependent on additional mutations from non-vaccinated as well as the potential rate of infection of the Delta variant, but scientists say things look good if you got Pfizer or Moderna.

Edit: I apologize. I didn't know about the bot.

If they think its safe as long as Trump produced it then I don't care even if they think Trump made it personally in his basement. If these yokels believe the vaccine is safe that way, let them believe it.

5

u/KalphiteQueen 7d ago

honestly I'd use the same wording myself if it meant more people would be vaccinated, it's the old "you can't argue with stupid" angle

50

u/PeaceBull 7d ago

Trump-produced

Compared to reality - the idea of trump in a lab coat & safety goggles comparing beakers to try to save the world with the intelligence of a partially trained Dalmatian is pretty funny

Sadly I think that’s what MAGA believes basically happened.

22

u/dystopian_mermaid 7d ago

I’m pretty sure a partially trained Dalmatian would do better.

18

u/AnotherSoulessGinger 7d ago

I had two Dalmatians. One was the smartest dog I’ve ever known in all my life (still hasn’t been beat). The other was a puppy mill rescue with severe issues (deaf, neuro issues, generally a super spaz) and even if she was running at half her mental capacity, was still smarter than Trump. Even in her final days, I never had to diaper Dot.

11

u/say592 7d ago

Given that he went to the CDC and didn't want to wear a mask, and he took his glasses off to look at a solar eclipse with his naked eyes, it's bold of you to assume he would bother with a lab coat and safety goggles. Try picturing him in a poorly fitted suit doing safety squints instead.

6

u/PeaceBull 7d ago

Who has to imagine that? That was reality for the last half of a decade.

The problem is they can't just change their mind like sane, reasonable people. They can't say "we were wrong, you were right, and we agree with your stance on this issue." Instead they have to try and paint a new narrative where they were on their current, (potentially) correct side the entire time and their opponents were always on the wrong side (which "coincidentally" matches whatever beliefs the GOP previously held but will not admit to).

They're politicizing their own errors, but painting them as the other guy's errors so they can villainize everyone outside of the GOP while they continue to peddle vaccine hesitancy out one side of their mouths and "we've always been telling people to get the vaccine, look we all have it" out the other side.

And unfortunately, many of their cultists won't be able to make the distinction.

Hijacking for a friendly reminder that the Pfizer vaccine is the BioNTech vaccine. A Turkish-German wife-and-husband team founded BioNTech, a German company, and, with German government funding, developed the vaccine. To manufacture it on a large enough scale, they partnered with Pfizer.

The US proceeded to ban vaccine exports. So Germany, along with the rest of the world, got their BioNTech vaccine from the one Pfizer plant in Europe, and the US were the only country getting their supplies from the second plant in the US.

Now when you ask people, they really think it’s an American vaccine.

Call it BioNTech or BioNTech-Pfizer, and don’t let this piece of history get US-washed.

Edit: Typo. Also: Why would anyone even want to call it Pfizer when you could call it BioNTech. “I got injected with BioNTech”, how much cooler can it get!

67

u/RoundSparrow 7d ago

It's bewildering and it looks like we are approaching a total society meltdown over bullshit belief in Rupert Murdoch, QAnon, Alex Jones, inequality preachers and all their gang of liars.

"A mixture of gullibility and cynicism have been an outstanding characteristic of mob mentality before it became an everyday phenomenon of masses. In an ever-changing, incomprehensible world the masses had reached the point where they would, at the same time, believe everything and nothing, think that everything was possible and that nothing was true. Mass propaganda discovered that its audience was ready at all times to believe the worst, no matter how absurd, and did not particularly object to being deceived because it held every statement to be a lie anyhow. The totalitarian mass leaders based their propaganda on the correct psychological assumption that one could make people believe the most fantastic statements one day, and trust that if the next day they were given irrefutable proof of their falsehood, they would take refuge in cynicism; instead of deserting the leaders who had lied to them, they would protest that they had all known all along that the statement was a lie and would admire the leaders for their superior tactical cleverness." - Hannah Arendt; The Origins of Totalitarianism; Schocken Books; 1951

I wonder how Trump is responsible for the Pfizer/ BioNTech vaccine, from Germany with Muslim doctors at the lead...

101

u/Jaysyn4Reddit 7d ago

Friendly reminder that the only thing the Operation Warp Speed had to do with Pfizer was buying their vaccine.

33

u/OldManWickett 7d ago

To be honest, I don't care if ***** takes responsibility if it meant more people would take the shot.

Please, by all means, go out and tout how great the vaccines are and sing your own praises. If it makes the nation a little more protected, I'd be willing to make that trade.

I think you meant Muslim, but their religion has nothing to do with it. They are doctors from Turkey.

Also, if you haven't noticed the narcissistic orange dipshit always tries to get credit or be in the spotlight with shit he has absolutely nothing to do with.

154

u/peter-doubt 7d ago

Thank you for the correction... Their religion does have nothing to do with it. Except in the Trumpist world.

49

u/Ditto_D 7d ago

Well it would have something to do with it since Trump tried to issue Muslim bans

48

u/lacompacida 7d ago

And that failed Muslim ban scared off these Muslim doctors from moving to US to help American virus development efforts.

Kind of like how early 1900s Germany's antisemitism led lots of German Jews to flee, some of whom ended up developing the atom bomb for the US.

EDIT: Interesting link on the topic

22

u/JermStudDog 7d ago

I was listening to the last weeks 'Behind the Bastards' episode called 'The Young, Evil God of Death: Reinhard Heydrich' and they dig a little bit at the fact that the initial goal of German antisemitism was exactly what you are saying - getting Jews to flee the country and go elsewhere.

'The Final Solution' is only called that because they had worked their way through all the other 'Solutions' and they ended up convincing themselves the only way to cleanse Germany of Jews was to round them up and kill them all.

Nazis were violent and oppressive toward Jews for a decade before we ended up with murder camps, and for most of their rule the goal was to get Jews to leave by letting them know they aren't welcome in the country - not to explicitly murder them hundreds at a time.

We aren't so far from Nazi Germany as we would like to think we are...

And, say, wasn't it around that time-period we were "making America great"? Wasn't it around then we realized the innovative success of America was in part due to the "melting pot" of cultures?

Strange... It's almost like all that racist talk about homogeneity is unfounded!

Like a lot of shitty managers he likes to take credit for what the people under him in the org chart did. The reality is that all trump needed to do is stay out of the way and let people hired long before him to do their job.

The Moderna vaccine was produced by Moderna, NIAID, and Dolly Parton. NIAID is headed by Dr. Fauchi and falls under the Department of Health.

Nothing exists in a vacuum.

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41587-021-00912-9

The mRNA vaccine platform for COVID-19 relies on the production of the coronavirus spike protein to elicit an immune response. Moderna, CureVac, Pfizer and BioNTech have all disclosed that the mRNA used in their vaccine candidates encodes a stabilized version of the spike protein that was developed by the NIH. A report by Public Citizen identified a pending patent application on this modified spike protein that was filed by the NIH19. The NIH also has four other provisional patent applications on a novel coronavirus vaccine as disclosed in a recent publication17. This complex matrix of patents, licenses and agreements between these entities highlights the intricacies involved in biopharmaceutical development. Since patent numbers are redacted in all the SEC filings, we decided to develop our own patent landscape for the respective entities. Patents and patent applications that are relevant to the respective vaccine technology platform and owned or assigned to any of the entities discussed were identified and highlighted (Supplementary Information)20,21. A visual representation of the science encompassed in the patents and applications is shown in Fig. 222.

In early May I was thrilled to hear of the millions of vaccines being produced and given to people eagerly waiting for it. Contrast that to this morning, when l I heard on NPR that we fucking missed Biden's goal of 70% by July 4th! It's damned clear who is not - and will not be - getting them, and it's not blue states. A pox on the houses of Trump and cunts like Miller who have twisted a public health crisis into whatever suited them that day.

Here's the truth about the accusations Miller is making about President Joe Biden's and VP Harris' remarks regarding the vaccine in Sept 2020.

Harris said that:

she would not take Trump's word on the efficacy of a coronavirus vaccine without assurances from top health officials.

She was right on the money. This was said after Trump told people to take the dangerous drug Hydroxychloroquine and to inject themselves with bleach.

I wouldn't take Trump's word that the sky is blue or water is wet without confirmation by an independent source.

The "Trump produced vaccines" weren't aided in development at all by Trump. I'm assuming the argument is that his Operation Warp Speed, which was designed to put dollars toward vaccine development, is what caused vaccines to be available so early. In reality, Pfizer, the first entity to produce a vaccine, was not a part of that program. So let that help you realize how effective Operation Warp Speed was.

14

u/gilbes 7d ago edited 7d ago

Pfizer, the first entity to produce a vaccine, was not a part of that program

Even more, BioNTech partnered with Pfizer began self-funded development of the vaccine while Trump was praising China's handling of it.

“China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”

Operation Warp Speed provided funding for a commitment to purchase enough vaccine for 15% of the population. When Pfizer got closer to release, they asked Trump's administration if they want more, enough for the entire country, and they said no.

Cool "operation".
